Three Feathers Cuvée Virginia Pinot Noir 2018
$32.00 – $336.00
Cuvée Virginia is named in honor of our Mother and Grandmother, Dorothea Virginia Roosevelt, whose generosity during her lifetime and after has made these vineyards possible. The Cuvée is a blend of 100% Pinot Noir grapes from our two vineyards, Torio Vineyard and Three Feathers Vineyard, located two miles apart and at a four hundred feet difference in elevation in the Chehalem Mountains.
The quality of the fine wind-blown Laurelwood soil creates a wine of lush complexity; ruby red and slightly sweet. We can definitely taste the black raspberries that were grown for many years at Three Feathers and the color is a deep garnet red. The wine is smooth and well balanced with a slight acidity at the finish.

The hot dry summer produced greater sugars, and more intense colors and flavors. We can definitely taste the black raspberries that were grown for many years at Three Feathers and the color is a deep garnet red. The wine is smooth and well balanced with a slight acidity at the finish. This is a wine for drinking alone or accompanied by red meats and will hold up well to rich flavors.
Bud break was in early April this year, a full 4 weeks before previous years. The exceptional dryness pushed the sugars higher and flavors intensified. The two vineyards were picked a full two weeks apart so the blend was created after the wines were aged for six months. Selection for the Cuvée was made by tasting each barrel separately. The predominant clone is Pommard but there is also 667, 115, 777 and 828.
The grapes were hand-harvested, sorted and pressed. The wine was kept in the vat for 21 days then barreled in neutral French oak for 10 months and bottled in late summer.
